Having a local wedding may be difficult to do so, picking and choosing from a large group can cause hurt feelings. 4. Dress Code

The dress code for a destination wedding is likely to be more relaxed than a formal wedding. Especially if the ceremony is taking place on, or near, a beach. Are you ok with your guests dressing in shorts, summer dresses, flip flops, or bare feet?

What about your dress? Do you envision yourself in a ballgown or heavily layered dress? If so, a beach wedding may not be best suited for you. Of course, you don’t have to get married on the beach to have a destination wedding- but it’s good to consider the weather in general and how you want to feel!

This may be pretty self-explanatory but definitely something to mention. Having a destination wedding means you and your guests will need to travel. Your Dad doesn’t do well in airplanes and your Aunt has a very busy schedule not allowing her too much time off work?  Those are absolutely things to consider, while it certainly doesn’t make or break your decision- it should influence it a bit.

 Of course, if you are looking for that exotic location feel and you want something more special than what your local area can provide- a destination wedding is perfect and will provide incredible experiences for you and all of your guests.

3. Time well spent

Traditional weddings often keep the bridal couple so busy with wedding preparations they can barely enjoy the days leading up to the wedding. In addition, the wedding reception is typically filled with rounds to your guests’ tables for well-wishes.  Destination weddings allow you and your guests to fly in a few days before the main event and leave a few days after, to really get to stretch out the festivities and make your big day one to remember and actually enjoy!
